BARLEY FLOUR
BARLEY; is a plant from the wheat family (Hordeum vulgare). The grains of this plant, used in bread and beer making and given to animals as feed, are called Barley. Barley, from the Poaceae (wheat) family, is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world along with wheat. In prehistoric times, barley, the first cultivated plant, was used by humans as food. Even today, barley is grown and used as a food source in polar regions and high mountainous regions where wheat cannot be grown. In addition, in some parts of the Tibetan plateau, Korea, China and Japan, naked grain barley is grown together with paddy, forming the food source of the people there. Barley images are also found in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and pyramids. Although it is not as productive as wheat, it plays an important role in world grain production because it can be grown in arid and infertile soils under different climatic conditions. Barley's agricultural operations are the same as other cereals. Moreover, it matures in a shorter time and earlier.
FORMATION OF BARLEY;
A germinated barley grain gives 5-7 rootlets. These rootlets disappear after a short time and the roots formed from the nodes close to the soil spread at a depth of 25-30 cm in the soil and nourish the plant. Some roots, on the other hand, go deep into the soil. Barley sprouts are green in color, and some have violet anthocyanin spots. It is the most tillering among cereals. The ear in barley emerges after the fifth, sometimes the eighth node.
